Crazy Eights

Match suit or rank, eights are wild. First to empty their hand wins.

How to play

Play a card that matches the suit or the rank of the top discard.

An eight is wild: play it any time and name the new suit.

If you cannot play, draw cards from the stock (until you can play, or just one in the one-draw variant).

The first player to get rid of all cards wins; others are ranked by points left (8 = 50, face = 10, Ace = 1).

About Crazy Eights

Crazy Eights is a classic shedding game: play a card that matches the suit or rank of the top discard, and be the first to empty your hand. Eights are wild and let you name the next suit. It is easy enough to learn in a minute and supports two to six players, which makes it a good first game for a mixed group.

Tips for Crazy Eights

  • Hold your eights for emergencies. Playing one early gives away your best escape from being stuck.
  • When you play an eight, name the suit you hold the most of, not just the one you like.
  • Watch what opponents draw and what suit they change to: it tells you which suits they are short in.

Questions about Crazy Eights

How many people can play Crazy Eights?

Crazy Eights is played by between 2 and 6 players. Real players and bots can share a table, so a game can always start even if you do not have enough people.

Can I play Crazy Eights against the computer?

Yes. Pick easy, medium or hard bots and start straight away. Bots only use what a player in their seat could see, so they cannot peek at your cards.

Can I play Crazy Eights online with friends?

Yes. Create a private room and share its code, or join a quick match. If someone drops out mid-game, a bot takes over their seat.
