Texas Hold'em

No-limit poker: two hole cards, five community cards, best five-card hand wins the pot.

How to play

Everyone starts with 1000 chips. Blinds are 10 and 20 and the dealer button moves each hand.

Each player gets two private cards. Betting rounds follow the deal, the flop (3 cards), the turn and the river.

On your turn fold, check, call, raise (a few preset sizes) or go all-in. At most four raises per round.

At showdown the best five cards out of your two and the five shared cards win. All-in players can only win the pot they have covered (side pots).

After the chosen number of hands, the player with the most chips wins.

About Texas Hold'em

Texas Hold'em is the most popular form of poker: you get two private cards, five community cards are dealt in stages, and the best five-card hand wins the pot. Here everyone starts with 1,000 virtual chips, blinds are 10 and 20, and after your chosen number of hands the biggest stack wins. There is no real money involved.

Tips for Texas Hold'em

  • Be selective with your starting hands, especially from early position, and fold weak hands without regret.
  • Position matters: acting last gives you information, so you can play more hands from the dealer button.
  • Do not chase draws without the right price. Compare the size of the bet with the pot before you call.

Questions about Texas Hold'em

How many people can play Texas Hold'em?

Texas Hold'em is played by between 2 and 6 players. Real players and bots can share a table, so a game can always start even if you do not have enough people.

Can I play Texas Hold'em against the computer?

Yes. Pick easy, medium or hard bots and start straight away. Bots only use what a player in their seat could see, so they cannot peek at your cards.

Can I play Texas Hold'em online with friends?

Yes. Create a private room and share its code, or join a quick match. If someone drops out mid-game, a bot takes over their seat.
